Symptom

When you visit your domain, the browser will not show anything or show an SSL error message that the certificate does not match the domain.

www. [domain] uses an invalid security certificate.
The certificate is only valid for *.bitpalast.net, bitpalast.net. Error code: SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN

The warning may be slightly different, depending on which web browser you use.

Cause

Please note the other FAQ articles on the topic "SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN" as the message can have different causes.

For the case described here, the warning is shown because you did not create your own SSL certificate. Therefore, the web server uses the host certificate issued for *.bitpalast.net and bitpalast.net, but it does not match your own domain.

Solution

Create a certificate for your domain with the "SSL/TLS Certificates" icon in the web space control panel.
