Solution

SFTP and FTPS are both encrypted connections between a client and a server, but are based on different protocols and user accounts.

SFTP uses the SSH protocol. It works in your Bitpalace webspace only with user accounts that are also authorized to connect to the Linux console via SSH. This is just one user account for each Bitpalace Business Booster webspace (the account named srv- ... that Bitpalace provides for you when setting up the webspace). (SSH is unavailable in Bitpalace ValueWebspace accounts, hence SFTP is unavailable, too.) The root of SFTP access is always your webspace home directory. The advantage of SFTP is its high security.

FTPS uses FTP, the common file transfer protocol of FTP programs. You can set up multiple FTP user accounts in your Bitpalace webspace. Each FTP user account can get its own home directory. The advantage of FTPS in conjunction with your Bitpalace webspace is the greater freedom of choice. FTPS is sufficiently secure for all common applications.

Modern FTP programs like Filezilla can handle both types of connections.
