Symptom

You own a generic domain (e.g. .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, aka CNOBI domain) and want to transfer the domain to another provider. The domain cannot be transfer, because it is in a transfer prohibition period.

Solution

ICANN, the authority for Internet names and IP addresses, requires, that the owner of CNOBI domains must not be modified during the first 60 days after setup or the last modification. This applies to all providers worldwide. The rule shall mitigate abuse of domain names, because otherwise the domain owner could be changed each day, which would make it difficult to prosecute cybercrime offenders.
